A few years back I bought a couple of motor bike jack to use with my Lotus Elise, these are rated at 500Kg each so more than enough to lift one side of the car

I was fed up using those scissor jack to lift up the Elise to be able to then slide under the. axle stands

One of these either side of the Elise made life a lot easier and quicker too

Little rubber blocks between the bike jack and the under floor to protect the aluminium Unser side

    Then placing the axle stands

I started of using a cordless drill with the bike jacks and worked OK at first

This use of the cordless drill was starting to take it’s toll on it, so I then converted a car windscreen motor and used that to lift and lower the bike jack

Used this part from the scissor jack handle and fitted it on to the motor

The motor also had two speeds

After some usage one of the bike jacks gave up the ghost, the hex at the end of the trapezoidal threaded rod detached from the rod

So I though it was time I bought a couple of new trapezoidal rods,I though I’d replace like for like and bought 2x 12mm trapezoid rods and new hex rod and start again

Cut down to size and drilled through the centre to allow the rod to slide through the centre of the hex then weld one end of the hex to the rod

The trapezoid thread on the jack bars were not in good condition so I also bought trapezoid nuts at the same time and welded them to the bar
