    I've devised a new cocktail, and thought I'd share it with you all. Well obviously I can't actually share it, but I can tell you how I made it so you all can make and enjoy it too.

    I haven't named it yet, but the working name is 'Tropical Wassail'.

    This is a refreshing drink to remind us of summer during these dark and miserable months.

    You'll need:
    * Some good English cider (not the chemical rubbish - proper scrumpy, ie still cider made from nothing but fermented apple juice)
    * Some fresh pineapple juice
    * Some lemonaide

    1. Make sure you're in good company (my lovely wife in my case)
    2. Get some summery slightly upbeat music on (check out http://www.charlotteyanni.com/ )
    3. Pour a dash of scrumpy in the glass, about one quarter full
    4. Add about one quarter fresh pineapple juice
    5. Top up with lemonaide
    6. Enjoy.

    They do indeed. Not as good as the stuff you get locally if you visit the west country, but pretty nice all the same. My rule of thumb is if its a popular brand, it is probably a bit rubbish, because popular brands are produced en-masse and it is not commercially viable to make it properly if demand is high. Therefore the less popular ones tend to be better.

    We bought a 3 litre carton of cider from Tesco. Like I said is not as nice as the local stuff you can seek out, but it is nice and it is good value.

    No. To be honest I'm not even sure what's involved in mulling drinks.

    Mulling Cider,

    Put your scrumpy in a saucepan, low heat, stir in some spices, cinnamon, little bit of nutmeg, cloves.
    2 tablespoons of demerara per pint.

    Heat it to about 50/60c you stop before you smell the alcohol boiling off.

    Don't drink it too quick as it will go to your head. Always have something to eat before or during cider drinking. Cheese, dry buscuits or ideally, Dorset knobs.

    As a youth, I spent the weekend on the lash with the lads, drinking scrumpy from friday nite till sunday.Neglected to eat anything.

    Sunday Night, threw me stomach lining up, orrible, thought it was me liver as thats what it looks like.
