When I was at Gardener's World Live I bought a few Sisyrinchiums. I think they are gorgeous little flowers. I used to have quite a little collection but an accident with Jeyes Fluid wiped most out. So I am gradually building them up again.
This is one called 'Dragon's Eye'

and this is called 'Buscuitella'. I really like the colouring and it is my wife's favourite.

Keep your eye open for a plant called Orthrosanthus caerulea/latifolia (same thing), It is related to sisyrinchium but rather special. It is the size of s. striatum (as it used to be called), but with pale blue flowers.
One point for anyone new to growing Sisyrinchiums, they should be planted with the base of the plant a little way out of the soil. If you look at seedlings, there is often a gap between the bottom of the plant and the soil. They die very quickly if planted deeply.

I have a seed pan of Orthrosanthus laxus. I have just been out to check the name. They have just germinated this week and there are a lot of seedlings.
Thanks for the tip about planting.

They're lovely aren't they? I have one called californian skies, bit deeper than your first one. I like the way they 'go to sleep' in the evening [IMG]

I've got a few like that in my alpine bits, blue and yellow ones - they're so pretty. I also have the big, yellow ones that are good for cutting into flower arrangements (with alstomerias and penstemons for example).
