At the start of last year I made a thread on GW to seek help to improve the appeal of our back garden. We were tired of looking at the fence!

I had some fab advice on design, methods and plants. My husband and I have been working away at bringing our vision to life.

I wanted to make this thread to share the journey hoping it will inspire others and be a nice place to share as the garden develops. We're definitely not expert gardeners, we've taught ourselves (with the help of forums like this), trying stuff out and seeing what works.

Here are some 'before' and 'now' photos...

And this is how it looks so far...
There is lots still to do and the grass needs mowing but it's so lovely to spend time in!

Thank you @ViewAhead! It has been a lot of hours of work and very hard in places due to heavy clay soil. But it's been so rewarding that I would do it all over again!

I'm looking forward to letting things settle in, grow and observing the changes are the seasons move on

It never ceases to amaze me, the difference bringing in plants can make to a boring plot.
It looks lovely, and as @ViewAhead says, you are forever hooked on gardening now .

Thanks all, we're really chuffed with how it's coming on. Next to think about is a climber for the pergola and getting more spring bulbs in later in the year

I hope the new bird feeder will have arrived today. We've had some lovely moments sat under the pergola watching goldfinches and sparrows in the bird bath
