I have a patio raspberry, but this year for some reason it doesn’t seem happy and isn’t really growing. Any ideas what’s wrong with it?

I would suspect the compost when container plants don't do well. Is it MPC or a soil based one like John Innes? If it's MPC depending on the type it will need replacing every year. Also given the current heatwave and lack of rain I am watering all my pots twice a day and mine are all plastic, with clay you lose even more through the pot itself.

It's just normal compost. Should I transplant into fresh compost now?

Kazza, JWK took my words ...ha ha :)
yes, I agree. MPC is not ideal for raspberries in pots in my opinion. Go for john innes when you repot in autumn. I would not repot now. In this heat, the compost is drying out as fast as it is watered and the nutrients are being constantly leached out. I would also mix in some horticultural grit :)

I like planting plants that go with one another to encourage growth and quality so besides changing compost You could also plant by it Garlic ,onion,or tansy to repel insects; raspberry and garlic etc are freindly combination at the moment i have my mininture rasberry growing next to onions and its doing very well
