Hi all - I haven't been on the site for AGES, mainly because I have been working on my patio! I've now got the flags laid and am building a containing wall. Here are the befores and afters for the flags!

The back of the house - last year, it had overgrown even more than this by this year!!

The first clearance - an old patio that was laid, seemingly, on a bed of weeds! ;)

The second clearance - we constructed a wooden frame to hold the base in place!

Laying the flags - each flag was not only a different size, but a different depth as well. They are natural indian limestone and a nightmare to level up!

Finished - part one! the flags are down and the sun is shining (finally!)

Finished - part 2. The sun didn't last long, and you can see the "working area" behind!

I'm now building a retaining wall to cope with the levels in the garden, so will keep eveyone posted of that too!

    ENJOY - I am! :D

Top job Dave nice flags too. I hope you have got boards to cover them up when you are finishing the rest of the garden. I wish on reflection i'd done the patio last. Looks top rate mate like a classy kitchen floor. [IMG]

Haha - thanks for the encouragement guys! You're not the first ones to have suggested it, and I wish I had the holidays off work to help people! If anyone wants any (very limited) advice, just drop me line :D

Dave that patio is gorgeous. Just one question, is it as slippery as slate is when its wet????

No mims, not at all. They do a slate version, which would have cost about £400 more, but I'm just as happy with the limestone. The company is called Pavestone - they specialise in sourcing natural stone from around the world and the prices are stupidly low! bargain! :D
