I've been looking at everyones lovely animals so thought I'd post mine

Clarence - blind in one eye, no teeth, very noisy rescue cat. Lovely cream and apricot colour and not a white hair on him.

My 'kitten' Scatty - she's actually 10 but I got her as a tiny kitten

Smokey - Hates having his pic taken but we have to let him off as he's 20 in Sept, he's also a rescue cat.

Squiggles - rescued stray, he's had a broken pelvis at some point that not been set by a vet so he can't walk in a straight line so he's a squiggley cat. He's also the only cat I know that can put his tail onto his head (well almost) although thats probably to do with his pelvis problem.

Last but not least Katie - would you believe her mum was a Jack Russell, her dad was a GSD x Border Collie. For once she doesn't look guilty in a picture.

Lovely babies, Kath. One of mine will be a teenager in September so you're lucky to have one coming up to 20. My baby just turned two and he's a 'found in a carrier bag by the dustbins just born in 34 degree weather' so a sandwich short of a picnic, bless him.

A friend of mine in England had a cat last known to be 22 and a friend in America had one die aged 25.
    !
Thank you for sharing your family .... and welcome to GC! :)

Yeah she is, she was originally my mums dog until she was attacked by my mums neighbours staffy, it attacked her on the driveway when she had finished her walk. My dad managed to get the other dog off her but it was enough to stop her wanting to go out. My mum told me she was thinking of having her pts as Katie didn't have quality of life as she was scared to go out. I always had a soft spot for her so instantly said I'd have her to see if she was okay living at mine, I dont live very far from her.
The rest as they say is history, she loves being here (she is allowed upstairs and on the furniture  a big nono I know), she loves the kids including my toddler who came along after she did. In fact they're as thick as thieves I caught him feeding her sweets earlier on today! She's one happy doggy.

Smokey has always been a 'miserable old man', he's not really but he still manages to rule the roost in the house and also outside, he stops the other cats in the street catching the birds (although in his youth he'd have been sat in the tree with the bird seed in his open mouth waiting). I got him when he was allegedly 6 but after he'd had a trip to the vets it was discovered his previous owner had used the same vet and so we knew that he was actually born in 1988 and was 10 that year, my ginger cat came from the same people, they were divorce cats - no-one wanted them basically, plus with the grey cat being as old as he actually was not many people would have wanted to rehome him.

Gosh Katherna you've got quite a few haven't you? All with stories too. Lovely.

Aww, poor Katie. Bet she does love living with you. how does she get on with the cats? My Joyce is like Katie, she goes wherever she wants in the house! She is choosing to sleep on the futon in the spare bedroom at the moment!!

    cheers

What a lovely big family of pets you have. I love cats, but sadly can't have any, as my dog and my hubby don't do cats (he's allergic, and the pooch wants to eat them!). I love Katie - she's got an adorable little face.

I don't think there's anything wrong with dogs having the run of the house and being allowed on furniture - as long as they have good manners (i.e. get off when you ask them, stay off when they're not wanted etc), I don't see the problem?

My dog is a rescue, like yours, and for 3 years, could not bear to be physically close to us, and therefore refused to get on the sofa etc if we were on it too. So now, when I see her like this, it warms my heart!

if you go to sit down she'll instantly move out of the way for anyone.
The cats and the dog get on fine, I had a little bullying from Clarence at first but a quick squirt with a water pistol sorted that out, she will jump into the middle of 2 of the cats if they're having a disagreement. Her and my toddler are as thick as thieves, the other day he was feeding her sweeties - my sweeties! cherry lips - her breath stank of them, lol.

Lovely pets, Katherna, and warming stories to go with them. Bless you for taking them all in.

Our cats used to have the run of the house, just the table and kitchen counter were off-grounds.
