its maybe a bit ambitious but if its here in black and white it may spur me on.
project 1-resdedign front garden. This includes putting a Cpl of sleepers down, covering grass with 2 ton gravel and planting some plants.
project 2-dig up path which is on sunny side of garden, move it,create border and dig on 2 ton of grit and 1 ton of top soil. As i have no true back access i will have to barrow this through garage and utility which will take forever.
project 3 if i still have my back and.money will involve moving broken shed from sunny side and putting new shed pn the dark side! Maybe ambitious but it has to be done!

Well, I put around 14 sleepers down in the garden some years ago, BP, and the Timber Yard just dumped them on my driveway. I had to manhandle them from the front of the house to the garden and they weigh a "ton" so be careful and get some help to move them if you can. The other thing with Sleepers is whether or not they are used or new untreated ones. Used sleepers are covered in oil and creosote [mine were] and wearing of gloves is a must. Also the creosote covered sleepers don't seem to encourage low growing plants to "tumble" over them as creosote is not plant friendly. However, I notice that after some time my plants have managed to grow happily over the sleepers.
Just take your time and don't burn yourself out doing it all. Also as you go along with all the original plans in your mind you'll find little changes creeping in so that not everything is quite what you planned!!:coffee:

I am paying someone for a day to do most of the heavy hard stuff and after that its doing what I can! I am sure my plans will change somewhat but thats part of the fun for me! its never quite as you anticipated but sometimes better.
I think I am going to get new sleepers rather than the old ones as I am told the new ones are easier to cut and the old ones need a chain saw

If it's a sleeper you will need a chainsaw anyway. They're really thick and if you planned on using a handsaw you'll be covered in blisters and aching by the end of the morning

I managed to cut my sleepers, where needed, with a large power circular saw without any difficulty but you have to take great care whatever you use. Let us all know how you get on!!:coffee::snork:
