So pleased with it I thought I would share

Now this was not a tenner at the local shop and thrown at me

Someone has spent time on this

If you observe it is made from copper and steel pan scrubbers, toast, spaghetti, and washers
The centre piece is a Blown Goose egg, cut and etched with tin foil attachments

That is a real work of art Jack, it must have taken hours of work and loads of skill especially in carving that egg.

I was getting a bit confused Jack. I now realise the thread relates to the following.

Quote:-This week his wife, knocked on the door (a very rare thing for Polish ladies to venture to a neighbour)

She gave us the most beautiful hand made Christmas wreath, within the centre of it is a Goose egg blown and cut out with hearts and diamonds like japanese Ivory carvings all done by herself, must have taken weeks to make

He is fluent but she said in broken English Thank you so much for being so nice, more friendly than some Polish people thank you:- end Quote.

I was moved by the original thread and have been confused by the secondary one.
I think the present you received was of great sentimental VALUE.
It demonstrates the esteem the Polish family place on their association with the great Jack Mc-helpful neighbour.
I found it confusing that the second thread appeared.

Sorry Jack, but the initial thread was a moving gesture, lost in the secondary line. Lets go back to the genuine value of your Polish neighbours who value your friendship.

          :dbgrtmb:meant as a genuine observation, my friend:dbgrtmb:

I can see why you're pleased. That's the kind of thing that means something.

It does appear to be very well made, but even if it had been a bit rubbish really it would still have been special, just because someone had actually put the effort in, rather than simply sending their wife to the shops with the instruction to pick up something for the neighbour.
