    :ouch1:

This is my first proper year growing fruit and veg so I didn't expected it to be quite like the Good Life from day 1 and on the whole I'm quite pleased with my achievements. Mostly everything seems to be doing quite well (in my novice head) but my radishes do seem to have bolted - at least, that's what I think has happened. Some are poking out of the ground by around 2 - 3 inches and are more oblong in shape than round. Is there anything I can do with them? Or are they for the compost heap (project number 2)?

Are you sure they're not meant to be oval? Not all radishes are round like the ones in the shops.

Radishes will quickly go to seed in this hot dry weather. Best to sow some more and keep them well watered.

I feel a bit silly now. I've planted two types; cherry belle and french breakfast. The FB are oval and the cherry belle are round. I think I've got them mixed up on my planner.

I will keep them well watered - thanks :)

You'll need to keep sowing them over the summer anyway, every 2 to 3 weeks sow a few more - should keep you in fresh radishes till the autumn :dbgrtmb:

I found radish growing fiendishly difficult . They grow so fast that they go from being raw to tasting like a plank of wood in 2 days ! How they grow them commercially is beyond me.
