has anybody got experience of any of the following: gasteria glomerata, mammillaria microcarpa, fenestraria rhophalophylla?

Are they slow/fast grower and what soil do they require?

    I grow:

    Gasteria glomerata:
I grow in a mix of 40% JI No 3, 40% sharp sand, 20% grit
Give it as much sun as possible (acclimatise slowly so it doesn't get scorched).
If it gets too much shade, it will lose the compact habit and the nice grey colour

    Fenestraria
Similar soil, but I wouuld have it a bit sandier
Say 30% JI, 50% sharp sand, 20% grit

    Neither grow fast

A nice start @miraflores, once you get the bug you will want more.

"How often do I water them".
My answer to that would be, "when they get dry" in summer, and hardly at all in winter.

You can water them all every 2 - 3 weeks from March through to the end of September as long as the soil is free draining and dries out in between waterings. And not at all in winter. Except :

The Fenestraria comes from an area that gets a little winter rainfall and also heavy morning mists. So a light watering or misting once every 2 weeks in winter is ok, if you see the leaves starting to shrivel.

Btw, from your photo it would seem that one of the Fenestraria leaves is splitting. Prob due to too much water, or soil that does not dry out quick enough. Try reducing the water for it and give it a misting instead.
