They all look very good Snowbaby, just your broccoli might be too close together (too late now, leave them be and see what happens) and I would recommend you put some netting over them to stop cabbage white butterflies laying eggs on them - I see a few holes already so check the underside of the leaves for any caterpillars :thumb:

Good stuff. My courgette (planted in the ground) also have the white discolouration following the veins, do you know if this is something I/we need to worry about?

Thank you JWK, I posted another thread about my caterpillar nibbled broccoli :( I will go look for some netting - would it be a garden centre or hardware type store like B&Q?

I know there's too many broccoli... ridiculously I planted the whole packet of seeds lol then when they all grew I didn't want to just dig some up and bin them, I'd already given some away! Lesson learnt for next time!

Skinmonkey, I have always wondered about the discolouration, I did post about it when the plants was very small and was told not to worry, hopefully they will be ok.

Snowbaby, you will get netting at B&Q, Garden Centres or Wilkinsons (will be the cheapest) if you have them in Scotland. Sowed a whole packet? Well you don't know until you try things for yourself and I bet they all germinated :lollol: You can make one packet last years just by sowing a few each time - well you know that now! You can eat the thinned out one's leaves if you can bring yourself to pull up every other one.

lol yes JWK... the whole packet and by the looks of it, they all grew! I did the same with sunflowers.... I ended up with almost 30 plants - Oops!

The caterpillars have this morning moved onto planter number 2 of broccoli, so I'm just going to let them eat them in the hopes that they leave my other veg alone.

    Looking good Snowbaby.

I once planted a whole packet of rhubarb seeds, thinking they wouldn't all germinate.
Now what can you do with 50 rhubarb plants.
Talking of getting things mixed up, I once gave a sunflower plant to a mate, telling him it was a marrow. He complained that it was trying to grow upwards so i told him it needed pinning to the ground as it grew. Ever seen a 6 foot horizontal sunflower ?

Good idea to sacrifice a few, just hope they stick to their side of the bargain :)

I've got netting on my broccoli but I noticed today the butterflies are somehow getting inside, its very difficult to stop them.

LOL ziggy, that made me giggle!!!!

I've lost a lot of my broccoli & aubergine plants between the torrential rain yesterday and the caterpillars. I have 2 aubergine plants and 2 broccoli plants left in the bricked area now :( I bought a bug spray this morning, and sprayed everything. I couldn't get netting (too difficult with a 17month old investigative girl on tow!). So I'll keep going out and checking them. I picked off (ewww!!! ok, flicked off) around 15 caterpillars this morning... they "accidently" fell into the bucket which had a bit of rainwater at the bottom...

I wouldn't worry about the courgette leaves Skinmonkey - you're not going to eat the leaves. I find courgettes crop very well no matter what state the leaves are in.
