I thought I'd show you one of my winter pots. It has a slow growing conifer, violas and ivy and underneath are miniture daffs and tulips.

yes cellia i agree - very nice. don't know what i'll have for the winter??? my nasturtiums, that were kindly identified on here, are looking lovely with the leaves but no sign of flowers. thought it would be too late, but at least there's some 'green' around.
i think maybe i'll buy some heathers. they seem to be around in b & q etc at the moment. does anyone have any comments on them to help please?
    cheers

Hi Sandra, I have a couple of heathers in pots at the moment, they are just coming into flower. Does any one like the dyed heathers that you can get now?

    hi celia
i saw those yesterday! i was firstly really attracted to them, but when i actually looked & read that the true colour would come as they grew it seemed too artificial. i'm not sure. how do you feel?
    they look great but....
what are they dyed with? it must be organic or something surely.
    cheers

must say I'm not keen on the dyed heathers..where will it end if we start buying dyed plants!! Enough colour in some kinds of heathers naturally. I was impressed when I saw the dyed ones..they are eye-catching but I'd sooner stick to the originals!

I'm not keen of those dyed heathers myself they just don't look right to me....far too fake, I can't see the point of buying them if they just return to their natural colouring as they grow.

Far better to get the 'normal' ones they are at least still very pretty to look at after all.

and not only the dry ones, i think. Sometimes I had some fresh flowers lasting for a very longtime yes, but releasing different colours in the water...
