Lambing in full swing here. We are surrounded by sheep where I live. Quite like lambs until they are about 3 months old then they are a complete pain in the ar..:). If they find a way out of a field once then it is a day and daily occurrence. My garden is the only large garden for miles and might as well have a Tescos for lambs flashing sign at the end of the driveway. After 3 months old I'm afraid I only like lamb on a plate with mint sauce, and yes despite the forgoing I am an animal lover. If you had your garden decimated by the little darlings you too might feel somewhat differently.

That's a lot of mint sauce needed there :)

They do say "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" but that saying come's from a farmer who has bad fencing ;) unless you have Shetland's x LLeyn's then they will tunnel out!!!

@silu you obviously take sheep and lambs for granted but for many people including yours truly they are a rare and uplifting sight which tells us that Spring is almost here;)

Hi @Jiffy yes I am doing a few early mornings just after midnight to help out:smile:

No I certainly don't take sheep and lambs for granted @wiseowl. I too thought they were absolutely delightful until I moved here and even then it wasn't until I had had 3 years running of not a rose bud left in the garden amongst many other things (maybe you'd be cross too?:)) that I changed my mind a bit.
Going into the proper countryside for the day is very different to living in it. Many a time I have waded through muddy fields to pull heavily pregnant Ewes up. If they get stuck and can't get upright fairly quickly they'll die or get attacked by bl....y Seagulls who are responsible for many sheep/lamb deaths. If I didn't care about sheep I certainly wouldn't do that. We also spend considerable amounts of time detangling lambs from fencing as they are expert at getting trapped in all sorts. It would be nice if farmers kept their fencing stock proof but fencing is expensive and doesn't bring in revenue therefore it isn't repaired/renewed when it should be.

                    Mint Sauce and Woolley Jumpers

We’ve got issues with our sheep, they keep on getting out.
And when they do, it makes me cross and then I scream and shout!

“Come back you little blighters, don’t run away from me,
‘cos when I finally get you home, we’ve got mint sauce for tea!”

But then we got the men with the fencing wire and stakes
To go round all the fields and block up all the gates.

So now you little sheepies you can’t just run away,
You’ve had your fun and games and now you’re here to stay.

But when I looked around again the rascals had all gone,
They’d only been and tunnelled out and now they’re on the run!

And so I’ve finally given up owning any sheep,
I’m trying to think of something else that’s not so hard to keep!
