    2 questions really...
Will a wisteria thrive on an E facing house wall?

Also, can anyone recommend climbers to add structure to a N facing border?

My garden is very small 30 ft x 30 ft (which also incorporates a garage), so I would like to add climbers to give the year round structure usually supplied by shrubs. My thinking being that the climbers won't fill the small space available, leaving me room for perennials, ferns etc.

I plan to build trellis along the N border to support them.

If you can get a hold of the Notcutts book, it has a section on what plants do well in various places. Looking at it now, a few suggestions :-camellia, some clematis, cotoneaster, garrya eliptica, the climbing hydrangea, kerria japonica, and ther's more! Let me know if you want details of the book! there's also the little RHS book, Plants for Places - small and relatively cheap - try the RHS plant selector on http:www/rhs.org.uk. P.S. Wisteria like a sunny site, or s/w facing for preference

The climbers list would be great if you would be so kind. I'll probably buy the book anyway, but I'm impatient. It is spring!

Wisteria will be OK on an east facing wall, my daughter has a huge one on the east face of her house. It is quite open so gets sun about half the time.
There are quite a few roses that will thrive on a north facing wall as well, particularly the old fashioned ones. A rose and clematis together would be great! [IMG]
