As some of you will know, one of the pies I have a finger in is an online deli. Well time constraints mean I can't dedicate as much as I'd like to push sales so it has become very much a back burner project. Obviously, selling food it has perishable goods of which I'm axing the short lifers. In fact, in essence it will become more preserves than anything which leads me to...
A new name. This is for labels, website and any social media I implement. I had wanted to use Pickle and Jam, as a quick and simple 'does what it says on the tin' but a quick google sees that it's tied up with plenty of other projects and so I had to rack my tiny brain until it hurt.

All I came up with as alternatives were Good Life & Jam or Preservaholic. I want this to reflect what it is now - a hobbyist enterprise selling small batch products. The website will be overhauled as frankly the platform it uses at the moment breaks so damned often that I can't be trouble shooting 3 times a week.

    So, any thoughts?

There are online tools that help string words together, and check whether domain names are free etc.

I wanted a play on "XXX Works" (some software for the XXX industry), domain name already taken, software suggest "The XXX Works" which worked better than my chosen name anyway .. .and was available as a domain name :)

Perhaps Google for "domain name generator" ?

PickleAndJam.co.uk is available, not Dot Com though (are you planning to ship overseas? if not then I think that .CO.UK cuts down the number of "PLEASE can you ship to my country" questions ... worth owning the .COM to prevent squatting, but then trading under .CO.UK to deter foreign purchasers

        WorthPreserving.CO.UK available, but not .COM

InAJamPickle, PicklePreserves both COM and CO.UK available

DeliPreserves COM available but not CO.UK. Probably can get around that (for this domain, or similar ones that are "taken") with MyDeliPreserves or BestDeliPreserves or somesuch.

Thanks all. I saw the .co.uk was available but it's the associated names that also need to be free for social media and not getting all bunched up with the yanks etc

Not sure people would realise what a trucklement is MArley so that's out I'm afraid, but pickles and preserves has legs...

          Inner Pickle? In-A-Pickle?
          Inner Jam? In-a-Jam?
          Reserved Preserves? Preserves Reserved?
          Jar-licious?

(Did consider an anagram of Jams and Pickles ... but all I came up with was: Jacks Damn Piles and that's not good :roflol: )

                      Gluttony Chutney?

I'm just going to say the following from my limited expierence from selling other peoples preservatives.

People love local things. So I wouldn't go with a non descript name that doesn't tell the comsumer where the product originated from. My expierence is from selling honey from the local bee keeper at the local nature reserve I volunteer at. His jars simply say "Thurrock Honey" so no need to be all catchy with the name of the product. It simply says where it came from and what it is. Visitors go mad for this stuff, even people who aren't local want to take back a jar from the place it originated from as a sort of souveneer. I guess it lasts longer than a stick of rock does? I've seen people send these jars to the states etc as gives for family. I doubt they would have done this with a jar that had some catchy name on it which didn't have hints to it's origin. So many successful companies have done this, like Tipree Jam, Maldon Sea Salt, Newcastle Brown Ale etc.

If you did this then you could also tap into the local visitor market. Find your local tourist trap and gift shop and supply them with a few jars.
