    :wow:

We've been with Scottish Power since I can't remember when. Just got round to putting our details into 'uswitch' - and the cheapest tariff is £420 a year cheaper :hapydancsmil:

Wish I'd got round to it sooner

I changed from SWALEC this year and after doing a bit of comparison chose "Sainsburys" which was the lowest tariff for both gas and electric at the time. The strange thing is that I later discovered that behind the "front" name of Sainbury's Billings it is actually British Gas which was the supplier. The illogical thing behind that is that when I compared British Gas quotes for tariffs they were a lot higher than those they were quoting behind the cover of Sainsbury's:dunno::scratch::doh::coffee:

Agreed, but still illogical as they haven't got the best of names for fair, cheap tariffs and should their regular customers actually find out......................:gaah::heehee:

I am with Ebico, they don't have standing charges, they are Swalec backed. Did a price comparison and it said they couldn't beat my price, you don't ever see Ebico quoted.

"Loyalty" went out of the window quite some years ago ... however, in recent times, some companies/banks are now using it as a marketing tool to fight back against the "new customer, newer/cheaper deal" companies.

Switching has been a real game of seducing people away from long held customers; people such as yourself (and I mean that with the greatest respect!).

However, from what I am seeing ... the tide is now turning (again!). Insofar as, now that people are getting it that loyalty does *not* appear to pay ... and switching is now the new *loyalty* ... the revolutionary way to entice new customers is ... "we like to reward 'loyalty' ( :heehee: ) and this will now spread across the board

Just remember: marketing is a revolving tool. What attracts customers today (e.g. switching) will not attract customers tomorrow ... they, in turn, will be attracted by what enticed our parents (e.g. loyalty!). A dizzying dance of tactics (tangos) and spin (waltzes). It changes by the decade ;)

Congratulations on securing a cheaper (today) deal of £35 per month ... certainly not to be sniffed at! Just ... keep your eye on the ball at a 6 monthly basis. Switching today may well save you a few bob ... that may not be the case in 6-12 months time. We shall see.

I frequently change my electric Bill, I always barter down the price of my heating oil, I change insurance company's every year if need be for car & house insurance! I always get the best deal on all our savings & investment accounts & when we had a mortgage I changedcompanies every time the deal came to the end! Over the years I've saved a lot of money doing this, it certainly pays in my opinion, but you do have to be 'on' it all the time!
Well done Clanless, that's a really good saving, I hope you will be spending the savings on some new plants! :)

I've been with Ovo for a while now and can totally recommend them for customer service. They send monthly reminders asking for meter readings, can easily be contacted either on the phone or internet live chat and I can get every tiny bit of info I need from my on-line account. I spoke to them about a month ago and they admitted there was 6 other providers cheaper than them. I'm going to wait until spring, do a comparison and go back to them and give them the option to price match. I think that's only fair in view of the brilliant, honest customer service I've received from them.

I was considering Ovo or First Utility but they were slightly more expensive than the "behind the scenes" British Gas quote.........which seems pretty crazy that they are basically running a company that is quoting cheaper tariffs than the parent company.:dunno::doh:

Just sorted my Mums building insurance for her. My parents have been loyal to Santander for years. After years of looking after their own financial affairs, Mum asked for assistance for the first time.
She had a renewal quote from Santander for £340 sorted her out with Esure for £67.
Soooo angry how folk, who have trusted financial institutions and been loyal to them for years, have been exploited.

Well done, Kiddo!! There was, by coincidence, a report out on the TV News today that Energy and Insurance Companies have a standard practice of charging higher prices to their long standing customers and never offering lower rates/tariffs while offering lower rates to entice new customers........business has no loyalties although their adverts use that quality to sell their products.:dunno::gaah:

Martin Lewis did a money saving expert roadshow type thing on the tv recently.
It was very good. I am sure he mentioned the sainsbury thing on there.
You might be able to catch some of them on one of the players. I think it was on ITV.

He was on Radio 2 yesterday NG, talking about the "sticky customer". Apparently this is what the energy companies call the customers who don't shop around, no matter what they are charged. the whole market is a mess, should never have been privatised

Totally agree, it's just swings and roundabouts, I have been with SWALEC since I moved here, very pleased with the service they offer I shall be staying with SWALEC, being honest I can't be bothered with all this switching around.
