Sadly some varieties don't smell- I find there is either lots of scent or none at all. To get scented ones you will have to check the variety when you buy. I have some that don't smell, but the flowers compensate. Hope you enjoy yours!

the label said fragrant :( It's an Asiatic Lily - Muscadet, but it doesn't seem to have any smell. Suppose that's what you get for buying plants from B&Q!!!!

OOh! They're the best kind of plants, the ones that just appear [IMG] My neighbour has a bamboo that just appeared from nowhere at the end of her garden. It's in the perfect position and now is a good 8ft high x 6ft wide. Unfortunately all I seem to get is weeds!

    Morning Liz,
The smell is fantastic and with loads more buds ready to open it's going to be really strong. Unfortunately, my 5yr old got a bit too close when smelling it and now has an orange face! Looks like she's been tango'd :D

Have you got cats windy as apparantly Lilys are poisonous to them..

I love their perfume but have cats so can't really grow them.

    Morning Stingo,
Yes I've got 2 rescue cats so I've got the Lilies in a 3ft high pot on the patio so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem as the pollens way too high for them to brush against. Fortunately the cats are far too preoccupied catching voles, mice and slow worms to bother with flowers  :( :D

I have had both lilies and cats for more years than I care to mention. I grow them in containers and have never had a problem. I think if they were in the ground I would worry, but anyway only found out recently that there is a poroblem- I think Michaelmasdaisy posted a link about it soon after I joined.
