Hi there, This is the first time I have had a garden my first try with plants seemed to be going great until I discovered these strange blemishes on my flowers. Can anyone identify the cause of this problem and possibly suggest a cure. Thanks John image.jpg image.jpg

Hello John, That looks like rain damage to me....petunias are sun-loving plants, so if it's been wet and miserable where you are, that's the culprit! Just nip off the spotty flower and pray for fine weather:)

Thank you very much I was worried about insects and flys, Glasgow weather been crazy for a while one week sunny and hot then two weeks rain. I will nip off spotty flower heads and see how it goes, thanks again but I am sure I will be on here asking a lot of questions in the future, like I said first time I have had a garden. John

The secret is not to panic!;) There's a disease or pest for every known plant, sometimes several, but nature has a wonderful way of evening things out. Ask away.....you'll never have to wait long for an answer on here:)

That's a very young petunia isn't it? If it is, I'd not be worried in the least. In a couple of weeks or so when its got some roots down, it will be away. Petunias grow very fast and produce tonnes of flowers all summer, and unlike many flowers, they need very little attention.

EDIT: Welcome to GC by the way.
