Hi ... am busy with a garden and nearly done ... have nearly completed the main bed but still need to plant 2 evergreen creepers and need some other advise aswell

have planted 2 Fiona Sunrise jasmines against the wall, but the bed has semi-shade for a big part of the day due to the walls and buildings casting a shadow ... the bed does have good light though

I assume that the Fiona Sunrise Jasmines will not flower much due to the shade, but was not too concerned about the flowers .... and the leaves may also not get very yellow, but will be happy with the lime green colour of the new foilage, and from what I have read, the leaves turn red in autumn before falling off

I need to plant 2 evergreen creepers together with the jasmines, but not sure as to what to select .... did have Star Jasmine in mind (Trachelospermum jasminoides), but not sure if these will do well due to the shade, so would appreciate some suggestions

I have attached a few pics of the main bed where the 2 evergreen creepers are needed (note the shade in the 1st pic .... the bed has this shade for a large part of the day

my next question related to Clematis .... on the far wall, (loads of sun), I have a smoke bush and 3 meters away is a ceanothus (the one that grows 2.4 m high and has a spread on 1m) .... I am thinking of planting 4 different clematis in this area together with 1 evergreen Trachelospermum jasminoides ... is this good practice? .... (will any of the more rampant clematis strangle the others?)

the 4 clematis that I have in mind are:

Clematis x Aromatica (it is extremely scented) ... flowers june to sept

Flamula .... a very fragrant clematis ... flowers august to oct

Triternata Rubromarginata ... the most fragrant clematis in existance ... flowers July to Sept ...

Gold foilage Clematis Celebration ... a new one with white flowers and yellow leaves ... flowers may to september

the reason that I have chosen 2 fragrant clematis is due to the fact that I have planted a philedelphia mock orange and a Eleagnus ebbingei in the main bed ... garden is small, so trying to achieve a 'tropical look' but scented garden at the same time ... the clematis will provide colour/smell and the Trachelospermum jasminoides will supply the evergreen foilage in the cold months
    ------------------------------

My next question relates to garden irrigation .... I have been asked to install a sprinker/irrigation system to water the bed (one that works with those tap computer things) ... does anybody know what the volume of water per hour (in litres) is from a standard garden tap ... this is used to calculate the max amount of sprinklers / microjets one can use on 1 hose ...

and, does one have to add a filter to the line? ... I will not use drip irrigation, as I prefer microjets ... will use the long ones, so that the nozzles are above the plants ...

I have done an irrigation system many years ago, but that was a large plot/smallholding that had a borehole with a powerful pump, so was a total different kettle of fish to what I have to do this time

I am aware of the method used to determine the amount of water sprinkled (placing empty tins then measuring the depth of water in the tins after a certain time ... this is used to determine how long the sprinkler system should be left on ....

what is the recommended amount to water per day in summer/spring (in inches or mm) that will be enough for the smaller plants? (hostas, ferns, and Hakonechloa macra Aureola ....

the larger plants (2-palms, japanese maple, smoke bush, mock orange and Eleagnus ebbingei can be watered 'deep' once a week by watering can .... I don't want to 'overwater' the smaller plants (the owner will not check, and I only go there once a week

sorry for all the questions, and recomendations will be appreciated!
