Hi everyone, ive just joined :)
Im needing some help/ advise with a new Wisteria Tree ive treated myself to. ( im tollay in love with it lol ) I have quite a few plants both indoor and out and a lot of Bonsai too. Ive wanted a Wisteria for years and done my research, ( not sure if will become a Bonsai yet )and purchased one for a bargin at £25.
Its 20 yrs old, grown from seed and in flower. The pot it came in, was WAYYY to heavey to carry so i removed it and placed it in another pot. Quite happy with my beautiful tree, i was Google ing last night and to my horror read that placing it in another pot, which is larger will prevent it flowering next year :yikes: !! The artical i read, said that by dong this, it will send the Wisteria back to being a juvenile, and will then go back to producing leaves not flowers.

Im now petrified that it will not flower next year. Can anyone help with this, is this right?
I know i cant doing anything with it while its flowering if i am going to Bonsai. But i would be happy keeping it as it is.
I would love to hear any advise anyone could give, id be so greatful.

Sorry for the ba picture !

    Now that is a beauty!

I don't have any experience with Wisteria, but hopefully someone will be able to answer your query.

      Hiya
No expert as only working on bonsai myself for a couple of years but like you I adore WIsteria as a subject & you truly have been very fortunate in getting that one so cheap - I paid £40 + postage for an air-layered 4-yo shrub that's a long way off flowering & I thought I was doing well with that!!

Did you pot it into a smaller pot? If so, I'd suggest you'll not want it to flower next year anyway as flowering will stress it so much it may not easily recover. However, if you're really keen to have more flowers next season then as far as I'm aware, feeding will be the key. It's actually why I've come to this site myself today - to try & figure out which feed they need for good flowering. I've a feeling it's low nitrogen but I'm trying to find the actual feedstuff to use, so maybe keep an eye out for my own thread on the matter to answer that Q :)
