someone told me that nemotoads are the thing to get to stop the slugs on my hostas , i want to be prepared for the spring, so can i water them into my pots of hostas now before the leaves come through and will it kill the eggs in the soil?
Not tried it myself May, but have a look here. Seems you need a soil temperature of 5C http://www.defenders.co.uk/pest-solutions/biological-slug-control.html
Yes and no. You wont kill off all the snails / slugs with nematodes but they will over time attack quite a few. Try a combo of nematodes and other prevention measures (just do a search, there's loads of threads!). Would have thought that the eggs wouldn't be killed but the hatchling (?!) would be.
