the pitchers will die down in winter so no need to feed , keep indoor from now till end of may and just vaporice with rain water if you can .........move it outdoor in a shadow location and will eat all the insect ....ps need worm and humidity

Thank you I have a RO unit so I will be using that to water it
I have got it in my kitchen was told it would be a good place for it with all the steam and such from the cooking also I have a massive fish tank in there that is constantly evaporating water too

Nepenthes dont die back in the winter mine have had pitchers on them for two years now and they tend to be tropical where as Sarracinea (Trumpet Pitchers) will die back and are quite hardy mine survived in an unheated polytunnel. Nepenthes are really a climbing plant check ou this site http://www.carnivorousplants.org/howto/GrowingGuides/Nepenthes.php

Your kitchen seems a good place I dont feed just rain water which probably has a bit more goodness than RO mine get RO when I run out of rain water

Stumorphmac , I don`t mean the plant will die back , but the the pitchers will dry and die untill spring , and then they will start to grow back from the new leaves ....
unless kept in a really worm place but no need as in winter will no grow any bigger

overall in case you really want to feed them use chicken breast , very tiny bits .
the one in the pictures are now 3 times bigger

Warmth and humidity are the key to keeping Nepenthes pitchers going.

I personally don't think you need to feed the pitchers. In fact, if you overfeed, it will hasten their demise.
There will probably be a few fungus gnats in the soil and any other bugs they might catch is more than enough nutrients.
