I made my first batch of nettle fertiliser for my tomatoes last week. It smells aweful but hopefully the tomatoes will love it. But my question is, as we don't actually have many stinging nettles at the moment but I do have lots of dead nettles, does anyone know if deadnettles make the same good frertiliser?

can't see why not but put the nettles in a fabric sack so none of the bits block your water butt tap up:)

Why would anyone want to make nettle fertilizer if the result is a stinking brew?

Better to add them to the compost heap

simple answer is the smell masks the natural brassica smell from cabbage whites.

I think I'd rather have a few nibbled cabbages than having that pong waft down the garden :gnthb:
