    Good evening all,
Some more advice needed please from the community on here who know so much more than me!
We inherited a banana plant in a plastic bag from a customer as a gift 2 days ago. W spit it straight into a lot and lightly watered it. It is now in our bathroom in the warm with access to sunlight a few hours a day. the plant has deteriorated really quickly and I’m after some advice as to what we can do.
a pic is attached. Seeing as it is a tropical plant we haven’t much idea what to do. many advice to save it would be much appreciated .
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Paul

Looks a bit like its gone into shock from being moved from ideal conditions to conditions that are not quite the same as its used to.
Dont water it until it dries out and keep it warm but humid.

It might well recover, but its touch and go.

Erm, I'm going to say too warm. It looks like musa basjoo(could be wrong) so a root hardy banana. They do sulk a bit when divided. When repotted, I would have given it a good soaking then left it to drain. They like lots of water but good drainage. Seeing as it's near the shower, ideal place to water and leave to drain

Again thank you for this. Fingers crossed it holds on and adjusts to its new winter home. It was be sad if it died after only being given to us at the weekend.
This site is brilliant for getting your excellent tips. Thanks again. Paul

Just to clear some thing up @Paul Norfolk has this plant just been divided, is that a division off of a bigger plant?

I've had tiny banana plants that have come through the post looking way worse than that. It didn't take them long to recover.

It's probably just shock, maybe even a new pup cut from "mum". If so it'll concentrate on putting some roots out before sending up new growth.

If you take a pup off which hasn't got any roots attached they rarely survive.
Trouble is its not really the best time of year to be doing this.
