    Hi Everyone

I am new to this site to hi! This is my second year of growing veg and first year of having a greenhouse. Last year I had cucumbers and courgettes and grew them succesfully outside. In my greenhouse I have melons. medium and cherry tomatoes, french beans and chillis. However I have just moved the cucs and courgettes back outside as they look as though they are "suffocating" a bit in there.

Should they be in or out?

Also the leaves on my tomatoes are sand/brown colour. Are they dry/dying. Do they need Potassium Bicarb which is what I read in a book?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    J

Courgettes out (assuming you are past your last frost)

Cucumber out if it is an outdoor variety (same warning about frost) otherwise definitely in - and next year grow an indoor/Greenhouse variety (start picking in mid-May, rather than end-of-July, and more "presentable" fruits)

French Beans can be outside (again, after last frost). Although I have some in my greenhouse for an early crop (it's a large greenhouse though, so I can afford the space)

Dunno about Potassium Bicarb, but Epsom Salts is used to treat Magnesium deficiency, which usually shows as yellow edges to the leave - just the area around the central veins stay green.

The Cucumber will prefer some increased humidity, and the Tomatoes less so. I put my Cucumbers at the back of the greenhouse, and the Tomatoes nearer the door.

I'll be watching this thread as my tomatoes are also developing a browning of the leaves this year.

It's the first year I've tried cucs inside so I'm no help to you at all......the blind leading the blind. ;)

As I posted I see that Kristen was posting at the same time. I'm going to give a shot of epsom salts to my tomatoes and see what comes of that. Worth a try if I only do one at first just in case I blow it.

A photograph of the leaves might help be more sure of the cause.
