I've planted a new border from very new stuff so obviously it's looking a little bare. See pic 1.

It used to be a big hedge so when taking it out I've thrown in loads of manure and compost and other goodies.

Obviously this makes it very attractive!

Today I noticed large clumps of the little seedlings you can see in picture 2.

I was going to put some bedding annuals in there to pretty it up over summer. Should I be picking these little things out or might they add some much needed colour and greenery in this first season?

    Hi,

Well its a case of whats a weed vs a plant you want ?

Until they grow and flower its hard to say, but any dug over bed /imported soil /compost always brings up dormat seeds .

Your bed looks quiet heavily planted already so doubt you will have space for more and these weeds are likely to out compete the ones you have planted, so pick them out now is our suggestion.

"A weed is a plant in the wrong place" ... if it were me I would them out as they aren't what you intend.
