    Hi all,

Firstly, thank you for your time - I can appreciate that as a forum, you will often have new members join out of the blue, for nothing more than a question to be answered. I do feel a shed of guilt, but have tried a few other options and not sure where else to turn.

My question is, as a naive gardener, we've moved into a new build and have been assured that the turf that we have, is of the highest quality (Rolawn).

We've had this 'flower' type grass gradually take over (as pictured) and I believe this to be 'meadow grass'. It's since died down a little, but thinking that this may be due to it be seasonal.

Anyway, long story short, the contractor has assessed and has given me every excuse under the sun and I'm hoping to get a second opinion to your thoughts as to what it is. Whether it's common, or whether this shouldn't exist with a new lawn.

Am I being a fool? your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Gardeners Corner admhouse. :) No need to feel guilty, I'm sure this won't be the only question you ask as time goes on.

Your grass looks normal to me, not meadow grass. Grass like any other plant reproduces naturally from seed and that's what you can see. It looks rather long at the moment which is why the seed heads have appeared.

Thank you both for the replies.

Those photos were of the grass grown for 5-6 days, as the site manager had asked for me to let it grow so they could take a look, however, I did take another cut and some of the 'flower' type heads are still present, they're very close to the soil so difficult to cut.

        Here's some close ups.

Seeing the closer shots the blades of grass do look quite wiry. The seed heads suggest meadow grass too. I think you are right to question what has been laid.
