They have been doing a study on metallic particles in the air on London Underground.

These particles, maghemite, are of a minute size and can easily get into the lungs and bloodstream. Although they say they haven't done sufficient study for them to say whether they pose a health risk a radio interview with Professor Richard Harrison says that there is a likelihood of it causing some advancement of brain problems (Alzheimer's). The wearing of a normal facemask would capture most of the particles.

Cambridge are not prepared to say anything further at this time.

London Underground polluted with metallic particles small enough to enter human bloodstream

Life is deadly. Nobody has ever got out of life alive.

I know its different but you only have to see all the kids going down with diseases since lockdown and them not being exposed to real life.
Not sure how many kids get strep A (is it) in a normal year or if its just another case of media stirring the proverbial, but it just shows you cant walk around wrapped in cotton wool.

Lockdown was the right thing to do. Hindsight is always 20/20

There was a killer disease going round that nobody understood. Efforts to curb it's spread were worth it. It's tragic that some kids have died since, but a lot more would have died if covid had spread as fast as it might have.

While it's no consolation to those who have lost kids to strep A, losing a kid must be the worst thing that could happen, strep A can be deadly in any circumstances. Perhaps it's most well known effect is Scarlett fever. Treatable now with antibiotics and not always deadly even without treatment, Scarlett fever is the disease that inspired the old playground rhyme, ring o ring of roses, ending of course with, we all fall down. It's been around forever and used to be a lot more deadly.

I have no data for this, this is just my speculation, but I do think kids lost some immunity as a result of lockdown and all the sanitiser and constant hand washing. A little while ago there was a spike in cases of kids developing hepatitis which scientists speculated might be linked to the same issue. It's horrible, but what's worse is that many people seem to have completely forgotten that the world has just been through hell, and simply going back to normal as though nothing happened has consequences. The situation should have been managed better, with greater disease surveillance and a health care system ready to deal with all the knock on effects. Instead we have a government that doesn't know it's gluteus maximus from its humerus and a health care system left in such tatters that nurses are walking out.

I find it amazing that people will walk around in masks and then spend their life eating junk food.

I think we just need some kind of sanity rather than media hype.

Oh dear Jiffy that looks a close call hope you weren't too badly injured. Looks like a stampede!

My brother was seriously hurt by cows a few years ago, they can become really aggressive when they have calves. He was dog walking and the cows went for the dog, my brother tried to shoo them away but they turned on him. He was tossed in the air and nearly trampled. He should have known better as he kept cows himself. He was rescued by the air ambulance and fully recovered.

Yes that'a me, that one was the leader of the pack and i didn't have a enough time to read what was going on, she has been chased around the field with a quad and didn't want to come in for winter and she made a run for it, she even went though 2 lots of fencing, you could call her WILD, still picking the sabs and most of the big bursies have all most gone, some of the buries were in funny places but watching the video back i can see where she trampled me, and yes i've worked with cattle for a long time and yes you can be cauld out

In Finland we at least try. Some years ago a MP had a serious rant in his speech to the Parliament, complaining that even though we have invested millions in healthcare improvements we still don't seem to get that overall mortality rate down. :old:
