Went to B&Q today to get some manure and organic matter, and ended up coming back with, instead cherry tomato plugs [IMG] Really pleased. Just finished planting them.

Yeah i did wonder that. Will they not weather the manchester weather? They were outside in B&Q. Also what do i do about feeding them? I potted them in generic compost, and have bought some tomato feed. When do i start following the instructions on the bottle?

As Caj says feed them when the first truss is setting(flowers falling off and little toms forming)if you feed them before you will end up with loads of growth and very little fruit.

    Ok here they are. [IMG]
I only wonder though, what to do about support [IMG]
What would people recommend? And how long does it take normally for these "first truss is setting" starts happening? What kind of height is the plant when this happens too?

We visited Homebase the other day and whilst there checked out the garden section, they had loads of tomato plants, each and everyone damaged by cold!

I'm leaving my home grown plants under glass where they're thriving. I won't be putting any "outside" varieties until 2nd week of May at the earliest

Newbie, I think the poor things are looking for the light. Have they been against a wall by any chance?

I only bought them Friday, then potted them in this friday. Then bought them in at lunchtime today. Before this they've been in B&Q proberly outside in cloudy manchester, so they proberly have been starved from light.

What i think are the seedling pair of leaves do see quite high up if thats what they are.

What would be the best plan of action from now on? My window sill is upstair too, so my tree wont block the light too much.

Newbie, the seed leaves are the ones at the bottom, and they look about right to me. If you put them on the windowsill try and turn the pot a couple of times a day, to keep the plants balanced.
