Surely it would have to be a Kenwood or a Kitchenaid?

I own the Kitchenaid mixer (lift bowl style) and have never regretted buying it. It is a powerful machine and has been mixing, chopping etc for me going on 15 years now.

The attachments are expensive but I would only buy a set about once a year and that kept things within my budget.

I have the choppers, the grinders and the pasta rollers. If you ever want to shred a bunch of cheese, or cabbage or whatever the recipe requires, it will do it with a flick of the switch.

Christmas is approaching and I will be making my cookie trays for my family and friends. I make 10 trays with at least 10 types of cookies - and this mixer makes it all so easy!

Oh, and I don't work for this company or anyone affiliated with them - too bad, I would have loved a discount..:)

I'm desperate for a Kitchen Aid, I've wanted one for ages, go for it woo, I'm sure you won't be disappointed :blue thumb:

My food mixer is at least 20 years old, Kevin's mother smokes, in the days of coupons in cigarette boxes she saved her coupons to get me the food mixer

A few years ago hubby got me a kenwood K mix on super promotion (he'd found it on such a good promo, whilst on his lunch break, that his colleague was tempted...so postie was in the bewildering position of delivering TWO k-mixes to the same address, on the same day. I just smiled, and said "such s good offer, we had to have two!" - poor postie!)

A good powerful motor, able to mix large portion of bread dough, pastry an absolute doddle... Yet cheap because the colour wasn't what they had wanted....

I managed to collect literally thousands of focus points from embassy and regals, both from ones I'd smoked plus discarded ones I found kicking about.

I was saving them up for something (can't remember what, it was years ago). I was literally just about a dozen short, when thenew law came in banning baccy companies from offering incentives, so my boxes and boxes of focus points became instantly worthless.

                      Anyway, food mixers ...

I am a great fan of Magimix. Not sure if it will do all the functions you'd need @wiseowl but will make very good pastry for those killer jam tarts! I got 1 as per a recommendation from a professional cook about 25 years ago. The mixing bowl eventually disintegrated about 3 months ago plus the motor did sound a little iffy so branched out and got a much newer 2nd hand model off Ebay for £35, sorted! I'd certainly recommend them, having super strong motors but not sure if they would meet all your exacting requirements perhaps:). If you do go for 1 you are better with the models which have smaller mixing bowls funnily enough. They made ones with big bowls but they didn't increase the strength of motor so those models struggled a bit if you filled the big bowls with a large batch of dough as an example.
