Nathan, your snake is a False Smooth Snake.:gnthb:
One of only two snakes found in Majorca.

The Butterfly is a wing damaged Painted Lady.

The insects are Praying Mantises, they vary in colour, I didn't see any when I was there but my brother has them in his garden in Crete.:gnthb:

I love Praying Mantises, they are odd but fascinating insects. They are quite tame and can be handled easily.
Here is a small one I met earlier:D (my brother's garden)

They are found in most Med countries, I have seen them in Northern Cyprus and I thought anywhere with mild winters but I found a couple on a wall at the back of a Truck Stop in South Dakota last year, they usually have exceptionally cold winters so I don't know how they survive there.

This is the one, I picked it up and showed everyone on the coach as most hadn't seen one before.:D

Just as an added bit of interest here is another one at a Nature Reserve in Crete, this one is laying it's eggs.
