    Hi all
This is my new to me garden , It never had one before it was all flagged , So I tipped up some of the flags and as we get loads of leaves in fall I filled it with them , Over the last two years it has rotted down and next door got fed up of seeing a bare garden so gave me a few xmas trees and bushes to plant , Today I managed to purloin a nice plant ( Don't ask I have no idea what it's called , any ideas ?. ) I planted it and it threw it down , saved me watering it .
Now looking for some colour but as you can see the garden spends a lot of time in the shade due to the hedge and fence , plus the trees in the surrounding grounds block a lot of sun . so not sure what will grow there .
Any suggestions please , Small plants please and possibly ones that carpet the area is that asking too much ?.
    Thanks
    micky

Welcome to GC Mike. :) Your plant is a Geranium. Is it possible to have a picture or two giving us a wider view of your garden and the trees and plants that surround it please. It makes it easier to suggest plants for the area, how much light/sun etc. they will get.

I'd fill up the spaces with bedding plants, all the Garden Centres are selling them at the moment. They generally are 'annuals' i.e. they die at the end of the growing season but are cheap and a good at generating colour.

Cosmos will but it's a fairly tall plant and has a reasonable spread too.
