Did anyone see gardeners world on Friday night?

I really enjoyed it! Would love to see more of Carol - she is by far my favourite.

But I did notice there was a much more 'in depth' approach, I learned more in that half hour than I did in all of last series! I love gardening programs, and although I thought half hour was very short, my hubby pointed out that it is better to leave the viewer wanting more.

What did you all think? :cnfs:

I really enjoyed it. But then I also thought the last series was great too.

I'd like it to be an hour long, so I can build my Friday around it - pub, takeaway, settle down to the telly!

I'd also like more of Alys - she's my favourite. Carol is OK, but just a bit OTT for me.

I'm not keen on Alys - I try to be.. I want to like her, but there's something I'm not picking up from her.

Your Friday nights sound great. Mine go like this - kids tea, wash up, tidy up, kids bed, adults tea (always eat separately on Friday night) - telly til I pass out. I watch gardeners world and it fills me with enthusiasm for all I am going to do at the weekend. Then the reality which unfolds is the couple of hours which I get to garden while my toddler is asleep go so damn quick that I don't achieve half of what I planned.

I bought loads of seeds last weekend, seed trays etc etc. And they are STILL sitting in the carrier bag on the kitchen side because my little one is unwell and I've had no time.

Don't get me wrong - I adore my family, but 'pub, takeaway, settle down to the telly! ' sounds like absolute heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I love it :)
Fridays are the evenings we try to go out to the pub for a meal, but get home early for a little telly. If we don't go out it is definitely a take away evening with a nice bottle of wine and feet up :)
I watched a part of the show on Friday past and must say I thought it was an improvement on what has gone before

Oh I missed it, don't know why? I like Carol but I just enjoy watching anything to do with gardens etc. I dream of having a lovely cottage garden.....with a vege plot.

Just watched Toby Buckland planting out bare root roses..................well done-absolutely spot on what I particularly enjoy watching-(and I also love the Graham Thomas Rose Toby).

So much better. And not a whiff of the ice cream van.

Has anyone else noticed that Toby Buckland has been given a make over - new jacket, new boots and what about the hair!!! Alice has new boots too - cynical me thinks that they may have been given them by the manufacturers to place their products in a high profile programme. It worked with North Face when they gave outside broadcast presenters a variety of their jackets to wear on screen.

I love the boots but I certainly wouldn't wear them to dig the garden - bring back the wellies guys!

I couldn't tell you what they were wearing.. I didn't notice, it obviously wasn't drastic enough to grab me.

To be honest I am enjoying it so much I am not at all bothered what they wear.

As I remember, I didn't look too hot at 8:30 last night myself!!! :ywn:

The new format is good and the plant family section by Carole is excellent. Who would have thought that primroses were related to so many other plants. It's good to watch something that you can learn from.

Sparky - my feet don't get hot in wellies even wearing two pairs of socks. :) They are made for gardening in and even if I could afford a £200 pair of leather waterproof boots I would think twice before wearing them to dig the garden.

I've seen those lovely boots at the Chelsea Flower Show where someone stands in a bowl of water to demonstrate their effectiveness at remaining completely waterproof. Horses for courses - wellies for making friends with the earth and boots for posing in:) Mind you I wouldn't turn down the offer of a free pair if I was a GW presenter!
