Hi all, i laid a new lawn just over six weeks ago, i cut it on the highest setting, and it looked lush, then 7 days later i cut it again on the lowest setting, and i skimmed off some of the turf that was slightly raised, and it looks patchy, will it grow back in, or is it dead, i have bought miracle gro patch magic just incase, see the picture of my lawn, please help,ANY advise would be great.

    Thanks in advanced..

    flipping heck.

It looks like the soil wasn't leveled and firmed before laying the turf.

You could slice or pull off the turf and redo the soil. Get new turf.

or, roll turf, apply top-dressing and over seed.

I did level the soil best i could, the patchs at the trees are actually on a small slope, hence that part is more patchy as the mower cut over it at an angle.:)

It looks as if the roots of the trees have raised the turf level slightly, hence the grass getting scalped.
