Could any member advise what I should consider using as a fertilizer prior to sowing grass seed later this month. The area was a lawn prior to been treated with roundup some four weeks ago and rotovated to a fine tilth. At present is being raked flat.:what:

I'm not sure, but if you used weedkiller 4 weeks ago, perhaps you don't need to pre-fertilize as many weedkillers do not contaminate the soil?

if so, sow the seed, cover with topsoil, water well and once the grass grows, add a slow release fertilizer such as scotts autumn feed or similar

I have planted several lawns from seed, but have never used weedkiller

there was a guy posting here a few days ago, who is a groundsman and who has several years experience tending to lawns, so I am sure he will give his advice

Pheobe, the weedkiller isn`t an issue, no need to wait, sow the seed now. You will have a young lawn by the end of the month.:dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb:. Don`t let it dry out, but don`t over water either.:thumbsup:
