      It's a cracking lens, Scrungee.

Taking macro pics with autofocus only works to a degree unfortunately, Scrungee. I use autofocus rarely to be honest as the camera will sometimes shift focus especially when taking hand held shots and your hand wavers!!:heehee: I use manual focus most of the time but I can see why you would use autofocus. Let us all know how you get on!!!:snork:

I've been a bit busy and only had enough time to try it out on a few pics this morning

P.S. Taken handheld using autofocus and not swopping specs back and forth.

Have you got a Lumix micro 4/3 camera? And being an Olympus lens it doesn't have inbuilt Image Stabilisation (as that's in my Olympus OMD EM5 and Pen Mini).

As I've been very frugal recently I thought I'd treat myself to an early Xmas present http://www.amazon.co.uk/Olympus-M-Z...-Black/dp/B00B7WMVSO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top which will give the equivalent of a 150 - 600mm zoom on a full frame camera, but really lightweight and compact.

I've had a 3camels alert set up for ages and really regretted not going for it when it dropped from £389 to £350.10 towards the end of August, so when I got another alert that it's now £365.66 with an Amazon credit of £15 I thought I wouldn't let it slip through my grasp again. Should have it by the weekend.

                    oly zoom.jpg

At 149mm long and 58mm filter size, I'm wondering if I might actually get that in a jacket pocket.

                    Go for it, Scrungee!!!!

Olympus makes high-performance super-telephoto shooting more accessible than ever before by introducing the affordable M.ZUIKO ED 75-300mm f4.8-6.7 II lens (35mm equivalent 150-600mm). Olympus has redesigned the lens to match the distinctive OM-D E-M5® and PEN®Micro Four Thirds® series cameras and added a new advanced ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating to keep scratches off, and eliminate ghosting and lens flare even in bright lights.

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75-300mm 1:4.8-6.7 II telephoto lens boasts the same high focal length and first-class components as its predecessor, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75-300mm 1:4.8-6.7, and is capable of bringing faraway subjects like children’s faces, animals and landscape features vividly to life with superb-quality close-ups. Olympus fitted a circular aperture that ensures a professional-looking bokeh with smooth and even background defocusing.

The compact size and light weight of this tiny telephoto lens make it convenient to carry. Olympus has redesigned the lens to match the distinctive OM-D E-M5 and PEN series cameras. The lens includes Olympus’ near-silent MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) focusing technology to reduce the whir that can otherwise ruin movie playback on a High-Definition TV.

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75-300mm 1:4.8-6.7 II benefits from the 5-axis image stabilization of the OM-D E-M5 and maximizes the performance of the Olympus PEN compact system cameras for brilliant still images and high-definition (HD) video capture.

It's ordered and should be delivered before hols next week.

Some of my Oly micro 4/3 lenses have been so light I've not signed for them on delivery until I've opened the package incase it was an empty box. At 422g this will be a massive increase on my 191g 40-150mm lens.

What size/weight is an equivalent DSLR lens?

                      I've got an EM5 plus a PEN EPM1

Hi Scrungee, it depends on the make of the camera but with my Pentax K5 it's X 1.5, so my 90mm lenses are equivalent to 135mm and my Sigma 500mm is equivalent to a 750mm.

My K5 [body only] weighs around 1 and a half pounds, if you stick a lens on it then it's 2lbs upwards. As you know I have an collection of old "glass" which are not light when stuck on the camera but I've always used solid heavy stuff so in a way it feels comfortable and right and gives me confidence:dunno::coffee:

I've always like Olympus cameras and if Pentax weren't around I think they would be the camera in my hand.:snork:

My EM5 only weighs just over 15 ozs, a 422g telephoto zoom would only add another 15 ozs, I like a small lightweight camera in my rucksack

EDIT: Good job I didn't dither this time, that lens was only reduced for 2 days and has increased in price again, I keep checking to see if Amazon have dispatched as I want it in my hands ASAP. Now dispatched and I should get it on Friday!
