    Hello all.

Just joined the forum. I really enjoy reading the posts and have picked up some fantastic tips already.

To let you all know where I am.

I moved into a new home last year with a large South facing garden. I am particularly lucky because I have a small nature reserve to the rear of my home which is basically woodland. Its fantastic with lots of wildlife including several pheasants.

Anyway the garden..... When I moved in 1 year ago it was completely overgrown with shrubs and was very dark due to 5 Hawthorn trees and a huge holly, There was no lawn or structure at all.
1 year on I have cut down the trees and dug out the stumps (yes it took a year but I did it with a spit and a spade !) I have put some railway sleepers in as a retaining wall and just laid a new raised lawn. My borders are totally bare so I am working with a complete blank canvas.
This is where I am clueless and I will hopefully learn from the expertise on this site.

    Cheers all.
    Geordie

Hi Geordie and a warm welcome from me too. Your place sounds very nice and you have gotten the worst behind you now (digging out those tree stumps!), the rest will be easy compared to this. Looking forward to hearing how it all progresses.
