    Hi everyone

    New member here
I'm a gardening novice. I've done bits and bobs in my gardens over the years but never really taken much interest.
This year it's become a great hobby for me.
It's helping with my depression. I'm loving learning skills. I'm loving the hard work.
It's wonderful to see seedlings growing.

I have a very small garden which actually is great because I've had to think carefully about what I want to grow. I haven't been able to take on too much and get overwhelmed (so far).
Have decided on a few veg and some berries as well as a few flowers and some herbs.

I'm expecting lots of mishaps but I won't call them failures because it will give me a reason to understand why something didn't go to plan and I'll be able to learn what to improve on and do differently for next year and years to come.

It's also given myself and my teenager a chance to bond once again. I'm slowly getting the vampire to leave their cave during daylight hours and venture out into the garden.

It's also a great sensory experience for my autistic toddler.

Who knew gardening would be such a great form of therapy and relaxation? We'll all you wonderful gardeners here I guess

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. I'm also really looking forward to soaking up a wealth of knowledge from you all.

    Take care

Great way of looking at it! :blue thumb: My garden isn't large either so I have a similar attitude and have decided to focus on pollinator-friendly gardening in the last few years!

I love the fact that gardening has intensified your bond with your children, that's wonderful! :)

@VeggieNovice welcome to Gardeners Corner! You will find lots of gardeners willing to help you with any questions you might have.

I myself garden on a balcony as I live in a block of flats. But I still make use of every square inch!

Welcome to the forum. I have a small garden of my own in our bigger garden but I have just gone overboard. I keep buying plants and sticking them in. Even accidentally digging up stuff I planted at the back end to plant new stuff. Complete chaos.

                    Hi
I have some runner beans, dwarf french beans, potatoes (sarpo Mira if I remember rightly), carrots, tomatoes and also some courgette. I have some jalapeno and cayenne pepper plants too. However I was hoping for some bell pepper (California wonder) but they aren't looking so promising.
My garden is south east facing, well ever so slightly more south facing but not quite fully south facing. Sunlight is pretty good in most of the garden until late afternoon when some sun gets blocked by my neighbours conservatory.

Hahaha I can imagine the chaos. Hopefully you can get organised and stop buying plants.
I am usually like that in my every day life however I am really trying to make this work. Going by how many disasters I have on a day to day basis I have created a little plan/check list of just a few things I want to achieve this year. See how I get. If I've taken on too or not.
One thing is for certain I label every single thing that gets sown and planted. However my youngest comes along and pulls all the labels out. And my eldest thinks it's funny which encourages him even more and so between the two of them I feel I'm losing my marbles :heehee:
