    Good evening all :)

Im new to the site so thought id post some pics of my little piece of heaven!

Basicly we have a shared garden thats never been looked after so thought i give it some TLC.

As you can see its not the biggist plot but its free and its mine :D

There was a brick wall along the side (you can see where the soil line is) with a big fern tree. After a few hours that was no more.

Next stage was to measure out how big i wanted my 3 patchs and lay 2 paths

Also bought one of these little green houses, for £19.99 i think its a bargin!

Then it was time to plant some veggies!

Last weekend was the last stage, had to remove the excess soil and rubble

And this is how it looks now

I have to say its been hard work but i'm really enjoying it! Not what your average 27 year would enjoy!

Thanks for reading, i'll try to update pictures as things progress :thumb:

Hi Adam and welcome to GC:)

I must say you have done a fantastic job of work in clearing that site and turning it into such a lovely vegetable patch.:thumb:

It looks like you have got very good soil as well which will help a lot.You will probaly have to net most of your crops.some of which you have already done because the local cats will love that fine soil in which to do their toilet duties:rolleyes:

I have some of those little greenhouses and some of the larger ones that you can buy to suppliment the greenhouse that I already have.

Looking forward to seeing some more photo's as you progress and if there are any more questions please don't hesitate to ask as there are a few allotmenteers on here that will be able to help and advise:)

Wow Adam you have indeed worked really hard your veg patch has already been a labour of love but with your care you will soon be able to reep the rewards of your hardwork, just imagine coming out of your back door and picking your own veg to put on your table how great is that!;)

Those little plastic greenhouses are wonderful you would be amazed just what you can grow in them my mum-in-law grows all sorts in hers and very well too, just watch out for any gales though as they have an habit of flying off!

It doesn't matter how old you are 02 is right when you get bitten by the gardening bug there's just no cure so you might as well enjoy it!:D Hel.xxx.

    Adam,

You are quite right people in general don`t expect a young and if I may say so handsome chap to be elbow deep in aggregate and manure, but you are quite an advert for it chuck.

That is a lot of work you have gone to, and you`ll have a bumper crop no doubt.

Welcome to the forum and well done.

    Hi Adam.

You have indeed done a fab job on it! How long did it take you? I've recently taken on a part of an allotment and doing a couple of hours every day to try and get it into shape to plant something.

    Well done and good luck!

    K xx

    Aww thats for the comments!

Sorry i havnt been on for a while, family stuff has kept me busy along with weeding and slug catching (Grrrrrr!)

Ok, so heres where i am as for today...

1st off, Basil. Left is kitchen grown and right is greenhouse grown, HUGE difference!

Pepper plants coming along well, if not a little bit late
    [IMG]

    Peppers and Chillies doing well

    Runner Beans
    [IMG]

    Mixed salad leaves
    [IMG]

    French Beans
    [IMG]

Second lot of tomatoe plants with newly added support frame
    [IMG]

Now this is my squash plant, i have to say i wont be growing this one again next year. Its a monster!!
I've had to "stunt" its growth somewhat as its taking over everthing.

So all good really, we've been eating salad leaves, tom's, rocket, french beans and its all really nice.

Still got quite alot thats still growing but it's giving me a chance to sit down and plan next season, things will be much tighter and planted properly
