I've just planted 20 raspberry canes and there was some very healthy looking shoots on a lot of them which when planted at the recommended depth would only be an inch or so below the surface. Does anyone know if they are liable to be damaged by the rigours of winter?

Raspberry plants are shallow rooting and are pretty tough. You could give them a mulch of garden compost or leafmould if you like.

I love Autumn Bliss, heavy yielding and very tasty - fruited into November this year.

I grow Glen Ample: mid season. Reputed to be one of the heaviest croppers. About 10kg picked this year from a 8 metre row.
Taset : gorgeous. Big and juicy...
