I just received a couple of the new plastic issued Five Pound Notes.:th scifD36:
They are much smaller than the old ones and they are very slippery to handle, they look and feel like toy money.
If you have a couple in the same pocket as say Keys or loose change, when you withdraw your hand from your pocket they slip from your pocket onto the ground..

It happened to me yesterday, but being a Scotsman it never hit the Ground..

We have already been discussing this subject Music when I started a thread on it the other week...

Mr Kandy received one the other week hence the thread but I personally haven't had any in my change. They reckon the £10 note is going the same way next year so we shall see how that pans out:snorky:

I would rather have the old £sd back again at least you felt like you had more money in your purse, pocket or wallet:snorky:

OH had one in his change last week. I wasn't impressed to be honest although they're not as bad as £1 coins. They make my purse weigh the same as a house brick. :snorky:

          They were 8 1/4" x 5 1/4" (roughly A5 size).

They should also bring back these, it would be cheaper to make them out of the new plastic and solve the problem of all those counterfeit coins now circulating...

IMG_0301.JPG IMG_0300.JPG I have had these two notes ever since I received them in my wage packet years ago when they first came into use and I never used them, although I always thought the numbers were consecutive but obviously not:scratch:

I have also just noticed that they are two different colours and I am not sure whether the fact that they have been together in a dark environment has anything to do with it.Perhaps I ought to try and sell them on eBay :snorky:

I remember a few years ago a limited edition £5 note with the British open on it came out. I went into the bank got 10 went home put them in an envelope for safe keeping then somehow manged to chuck them out when doing one of my once every 3 years major clean ups. What a dummy

According to the info that I have just been researching the colours of the new pound notes as shown above were enhanced when DHF Somerset became the chief cashier when they started printing them on a new Web press whatever that means and it was denoted by a small "w" on the reverse(left hand corner to the right of the £1 symbol)so it looks like mine might not be worth much:biggrin:

240 pennies to a pound, a ten bob note, half crowns shillings and sixpences, half pence........and going back for some people, a Farthing.:heehee: When the decimalisation of the pound came in items became more expensive and the pound devalued on the streets just by the very fact that there were now only 100 pence to the pound.:gaah::doh::snorky:

You forgot the thrupenny bit,the one with the portcullis (sp) on one side of it.:snorky: Wasn't there also one with the plant thrift on its back but can't quiet remember

I think this countries financial problems all started when they did away with the old money and we got lumbered with Decimilisation(sp):snorky:
