Christmas New spuds were a bit disapointing yeild wise.

Many of the plants had died back early & didn't set any tubers, don't know why.

Too late to try them today, time we got down here lunch was already well underway. Hopefully still got some fresh mint as I put a try in the cold frame.

Do they not usually do new potatoes out there then Victoriá?

How many were you feeding today Zig? Looking at the pic, I reckon there's enough there for five or six people.

I hope you had a good day all the same. In fact that goes for everyone.

Keeping them to myself Dave, plenty of maincrop spuds left for the others:heehee:

I've not had a bad day, no one has hit me:dbgrtmb: Although I have had both ears sprayed with a water pistol.

No Zig they don't and I have so missed them, especially with mint sauce.

I don't eat much meat so love my potatoes and I am really enjoying having them several times a week.

Silly how much you miss things sometimes.

Blimey, things we take for granted:DOH:

Just checked with a torch, there is still mint, albeit a bit spindly:thumbsup:

A mile from the sea, but can hear the waves crashing on the beach tonight.

My 8 Charlotte tubers which I had held back planting produced around 5lb of lovely new spuds which I dug up early December. Along with the fresh mint which is in a big pot just outside the kitchen door, they were delicious. Even if the yield was a pretty small it was still worth the effort, thanks for the earlier advice Zig.
This is the first year that I have successfully grown purple sprouting broccoli which is now starting to produce tiny florets, should I pinch out the top of the plant to encourage the side growth or leave it unchecked?

Thats great news JR, glad to have helped:dbgrtmb:

Keep taking the florettes, thats nice and early. The more you have off the more they will produce.

Kept mine in pots too long this year, they are way behind, less that a foot tall. Went round a mates earlier, his are nearly as big as me, he lobbed them straight in after digging his maincrop spuds.

Water Pistol!! Nerf Attack in our house...three kids and 72 rounds... funny the first 4 rounds when your sleeping off the Cava after xmas dinner but six rounds in the eyes, eight on the lip and 22 in the ....ahem.....takes the fun out of it.

Still Dad knows best. Tied them up with their new dressing gown belts and reenacted a firing squad with blind folds. 7,6 and 3 year olds these days aren't as tough as they were in my day, been sobbing under their beds since :cry3:! Still left me time to get on with gardening :WINK1:
