we already have 3 chooks. 1 x Isa Brown, 1 x Speckledy & 1 x Rhode Rock. Today I just picked up 2 rare breed hens for £10 each!!!

La Fleche is their official name, but they're also known as "The Devil's Chickens"! lol

Lovely, are they known as the Devils' chickens by everyone, or is that just your name for them?:D

apparently, they were made almost extinct by the Christian Church, because they thought they were evil and called them "The Devil's Chickens" because they have horns. I think they look hilarious!! The cockerels are the most impressive tho. I read somewhere that there's only about 100 registered breeding females in the world(?)

      Blimey,

You did well for £10 each then:dbgrtmb:

my daughter has expressed great concern for your nearly extinct chickens and has asked me to ask you to keep them extra safe from fox's.

Edit; Daughter wrote last 2 lines

no worries, our chooks are in a secure moveable pen. we've never lost one to a fox *touches wood*

the lady we got them off paid £35 each for her original pair.

Its ok, daughter Willow is not looking over my shoulder now, but we were all so upset when house chicken was taken by a fox. Willow more so as she'd had to give up her Rooster, "Sleepy" when the "nice people" from London moved in next door and complained to the council about the noise:DOH:

They didn't like the Rooster going off at the same time they finished their all night parties.

The Rooster found a new home on the farm we moved in next to 10 miles away. Willow was thrilled that she could see him again, albeit he was bigger than her by that time. Then the fox broke into the run and killed him and all the other chickens:cry3:

        She was gutted.
