I have begonias that were new this year and are close to finishing. I have been looking around on the web to find how to store them for the winter. I see advise to let the foliage die away first before keeping them in a frost free place. I also see on You tube to just cut off the foliage stems before they are wintered. What need I do to save and store them so they can be used next year

Your Begonias are starting to turn now? Well it's nearly time to dig those lil fellas out the ground and store them for winter. You want to aim to whip them out the ground before the first frost, removing any bits of foliage around the tuber. I store Begonia tubers in a shallow tray of sand, but fairly dry soil should be suffice, applying water only to stop them shriveling (I didn't water once last winter). You want to store them in a frost free area, a shed or garage will do. Around end of Feb, beginning of March, as the frost begins to ease and you should be seeing new shoots off your Begonia Tubers, start to bring them outside for a few hours a day for a "hardening off" period. Eventually after a week or two, plant them up and enjoy.

Thanks for you quick response and the good information you provided for me. I had a good show from these begonias this lets hope they will be the same next year.
