    Hi there

I'm very new to gardening but i am absolutely loving it. I'm currently renting a victorian house with long garden. That was not tended to for a few years, with the last tenants and when we came to look around it was really over grown. But it made me love it even more kind of like a secret garden! [IMG]

Ivy seems to have been the bane of my life for the last few months trying to cut back what seems to have become an ivy tree which seems to be holding up a wall! lol so can't get rid of it completely but have removed what i can that had grown and covered a flower bed. the flower bed is quite a small area which seems to get the sun only in the morning. So need to read the advice given on this site to see what to plant there.

I want to grow lots of herbs as i would like to use them when cooking and maybe make some herbal remedies. [IMG]
So i'm trying to grow chamomile, yarrow, sage , eichnacea, corriander, rosemary, thyme, oregano and mint. I'm growing these in terracotta pots.

As I have been planting seeds and watching them grow i'm surprised how good it makes me feel.

Anyway i've proably rambled enough. lol Hope fully i'll be able to pick all your brains for advice soon.

    Layla

No probs Layla and welcome. I'm battling ivy too, I keep thinning it out and pruning it like a hedge to the height I want. Enjoy [IMG]

[IMG]Layla welcome to the forum. Your new place sounds wonderful and you can't beat growing herbs in pots!

Not sure if I like the sound of 'brain picking' but I'm sure some of us will overlook your zombie attitude and help you out anyway they can! :D

Enjoy your time spent on here and keep us all informed on your progress because we are a right nosy old bunch on here, I'm sure the others wouldn't disagree with me on that! :D Hel.xxx.

Hi Layla. welcome to GC. Sorry about this but I like ivy. It's invasive in a big way but I like it. It's easy to grow. :D

    Hi everyone [IMG]

Thank you for the nice welcome [IMG] . I will defnitely keep you all posted on my progress [IMG] .

I know what you mean in away about the Ivy Sarraceniac, Ivy is amazing the way it travels along and re routes itself. Although not good when it kills everything in its path lol.
