Hi Everyone I'm in Accrington in Lancashire. I don't have garden as such but I am looking for a small piece of land and hopefully grow some veg. I hope to fit the gardening in between the sea fishing, I have retired now so looking to fill my time. I hope you don't mind if I pick a few brains... Thanks... Frank

    Hi Seafisherman,

So you've come to use your shockleader for bean twine, your storm shads for bird scarers, & your landing net for pidgeon protection.

Just don't use your Abu to stake your brussel sprouts :D

You've come to the right place :dbgrtmb:

    Evening:)

Good luck with your search for a plot of land. Are you looking to buy or rent, and how big a plot are you after?

There are a few websites about that might help with your search, but I think your best bet is to become buddies with one or two local farmers. They all know each other's business so if a plot becomes available, it doesn't take long before they all know. Sometimes a farmer will have a chunk of land that isn't really suitable for heavy machinery, so they sell it or rent it cheap.

Would an allotment fit the bill?

Welcome to the forum by the way :)

    Hi Frank

Glad you have joined, Im sure everyone here will provide a whole wealth of knowledge! As a newbie myself, I have learned so much from this place.

Good luck with finding some land to grow your veg on, I know how difficult it is becoming to find any available. Do you have a patio or balcony from which you could do a little container growing, a small crop of salad or herbs nearby when the seasons are favourable may help keep your fingers green :D

Thank you for your friendly comments.I am looking for a small allotment or similar I dont want to take too much on as I do a lot of sea fishing and camping during the warmer months, I just want to grow a few veg and some flowers I love having flowers in the house, I have just taken my hyacinths out from the cuboard and they seem to be doing well...fingers crossed.

[IMG] Frank.. If you are a friend of Zig's then you are more than Welcome..!! I hope you land yourself an allotment, although there does seem to be a waiting list everywhere... Have you tried a local farmer for a small piece of land.. That is what another member of ours, Chopper has managed to do... Good luck with it all & if nothing else there is always container growing as already said.. Looking forward to seeing you around..!!
