    Hi everyone!

I thought I'd pop in and say hello and apologise in advance for all the questions I'm going to be asking! I recently moved into a cottage with a rather large garden that had barely been touched in 40 years (the people who lived here before where related to my partner, and I wish I was exaggerating about how neglected the poor garden was!). Having little experience in gardening, I'm feeling rather overwhelmed at the project that I have taken on, and I imagine I will be coming on the site regularly for encouragement, advice, and even a good old moan!

Hi Mary and welcome :sign0016:, before you do anything ,pictures ,pictures and more pictures. You will regret it if you don`t, keep a picture diary ,before and after shots so you can see your achievements, we love to see pictures and can give better advice if we have a picture to go on, as Loli says you probably have some established prizes, if in doubt ask, there are fellow gardeners on here can identify anything, and advise if it`s worth keeping.:spinning:

Hi Mary....Pams right. Post some photos because it gives people a better idea of how they can help when answering questions. I'm a new gardener too and there are plenty of fab gardeners on here who will share their expertise with those of us who are new to it. Anyway welcome to GC. :) :sign0016:

Welcome to Gardeners Corner Mary. It sounds like you have a challenge ahead of you, work on the garden in sections and it won't seem such a daunting task for you, as you go along your minds eye will begin to see how it will develop and how you can improve things. Good Luck! :)

    Hi Mary,
hopefully, the soil will be mature and rich with nutrients - unlike a "newbuild" full of broken bricks and plastic pipes.
I'm sure you will find much to inspire you here in Gardeners Corner,
