I wondered if it would be worthwhile for Admin to create some new topics for 2014? Admin could then make any that are relevant sticky, and un-sticky their predecessor. Perhaps put a link BACK to the predecessor in the first message, and if you can be bothered a FORWARD link from the old thread to the new one.

I can create them if you would like me to, but someone else will have to do the Sticky bit.

I did a search for "2013" in the title and, ignoring "What looks good in XXX 2013" and "Photo competition XXX 2013", these ones might be worth creating new 2014 threads for:

A single thread, or two, for these perennials? :heehee:

There are also some long-running "chat" threads. Rather than discover some thread-length bug / issue perhaps it would be worth starting a new thread for these each year? If nothing else the old threads could be purged at some point reclaiming space and saving Webmaster some money perhaps

I think the chat-style threads are "renewed" periodically already, Kristen :)

Indeed, but tends to be when they "break" I think - hence the "MK999" in the title - and I thought start-of-year might be a good item to renew them - otherwise they get huge and may cause problems, plus they won't be able to be purged whilst still "active"

You have a very good point Kristen.. We did always start new threads when they reached a certain size.. Or of course Year.. Since we moved to the cloud we were told it wasn't necessary but I have wondered about it anyway as well.. I shall certainly re-do some at least into yearly I think..

I do renew the currently listening to one, seems the number of videos in it slows it down.

Good idea to have one on the subject of compost 2014 to avoid a multitude of similar threads and perhaps lock the old ones after adding a link on first & last pages to the new 2014 thread. I've a feeling that dissatisfaction with what's on offer wont going away in 2014.

My suggestion for a thread of it's own each year is 'Seed Catalogues'. I've receive 3 so far this year and no matter how hard I've shaken them, no money off vouchers have fallen out.

Where do you get the catalogues in the first place? :dunno:

Some seed suppliers will inundate you every year with a seed catalogue for every order you've placed with them. At least in these times of email it's usually possible to reduce mailings to one. But some companies have a habit of sending the likes of unconditional spend £5 off vouchers twice a year, and I like those (got about £30 off in vouchers/codes last year).

I got one as a previous customer. There's perhaps somewhere on their website to request one?

I don't personally think their catalogue is useful. Very few pictures, small print, etc. and I prefer to browse on the web (that's not just Chilterns, it applies, for me, to other seed companies too- even those with glossy catalogues, although I do tend to have a browse through those when they arrive :) )

A single Multi purpose compost thread would be very useful , it did get a tad confusing having four last year.
