Hello, new to the forum so hoping someone can give me some pointers. I have two 2m square patches in my lawn which I want to re turf. I believe that frosty weather is a no no when laying new turf? If the forecast was no frost for a few days could I lay it then or is it best just to wait until the cold weather is behind us? thanks

    Hi Kasabian
    Some might say d,ont lay.
I personally cannot see any reason why not at least you wont have to use gallons of water on it.
Use some plastic sheeting to cover just before dusk then uncover it in the daytime just while the frosts last.I lay turf from April-November

    Hi
It all depends on your type of soil(clay or sandy/temperature /climate)But gardening is all about patience. Is the time it takes grass or a plant to root really important, if it is get back to me.

A friend of mine says that the winter is a busy time for professionals laying turf on things like golf courses when they are not busy. I believe as long as the ground is not covered in snow it is ok to lay turf and once down a frost will not cause significant halm.
